Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium goes live with Siri or Alexa on board

Smart heating specialist Ecobee has launched two new smart thermostats and the big news is that both Siri and Alexa are on board for the ride.
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced have both been redesigned, with a glass face and waterfall edges, a larger, more responsive display and a refreshed user interface, to fit stylishly into your home
Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium also includes a smart speaker with a choice of Alexa or Siri built-in, making it easier than ever to check on the weather before setting your heating or cooling for the day.
The Canadian company’s founder and CEO, Stuart Lombard, explained: “Our all-new smart thermostat line-up is our smartest yet, with industry leading technology including radar and a new intuitive user experience, and is designed to bring families more comfort, energy savings, and peace of mind, while improving home health and looking great on your wall.”

Both the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced use radar tech for improved temperature readings and occupancy detection all around your home, even from a distance or around corners. And larger temperature sliders make adjustments easier than ever.
The Smart Thermostat Premium also includes an air-quality monitor built-in, meaning the thermostat can display data including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and relative humidity. The app can alert you when your air quality is poor and give tips on how to improve it.
Ecobee also offers smart security solutions, and the Smart Thermostat Premium comes with an Ecobee SmartSensor included in the box.
Ecobee SmartSensor
The SmartSensor can be placed anywhere in the home and gives the thermostat more information about what is happening around the property, helping to protect against fires and frozen pipes as well as break-ins.
It can also detect if a door or window has been left open, and pause the heating accordingly, so you don’t waste energy – something of more concern than ever with current energy prices.
If you sign up for Ecobee’s Smart Security Complete plan with professional monitoring, US customers can also save money on their home insurance. Ecobee says that combined with savings on heating and cooling bills, this means the system will pay for itself.
